Aqua-Aston Hospitality returns to Australia after nearly three years

Aqua-Aston Hospitality has well and truly returned to Aus, hosting trade media for a special lunch on Friday to introduce its new senior VP of sales.

Rhonda Khabir, who has just been promoted to the SVP of sales role, and Theresa van Greunen, assistant VP of corporate comms hosted lunch at Sydney’s Mr Wong restaurant to update the Aussie trade on all the hospitality group’s latest news.

The lunch marked the Honolulu-based company’s first visit Down Under since 2019, and celebrated Khabir’s promotion to Aqua-Aston’s executive committee.

Khabir joins a lineup of six exec positions at the helm of the company, five of which are held by female leaders.

Aqua-Aston also announced its continued support for Hawaii Tourism Authority’s Malama Hawaii Initiative, outlining a series of projects it has rolled out across its properties to give back to the Hawaiian community and protect its natural environment.

To support local art and culture, the hospitality group is providing guests with complimentary admission to Bishop Museum and Honolulu Museum of Art.

To protect the environment, Aqua-Aston has partnered with ReefSafe sunscreen makers to provide exclusive discounts for guests as well as limiting single-use plastics by converting to more sustainable bath amenities, installing filtered bottle filling stations and providing complimentary tote bags to A list subscribers.

Aqua-Aston made its official return to the Australian market in May, reappointing Linkd Tourism to manage its onshore travel trade representation.

For the first time in two years, the Honolulu-based company was able to reintroduce itself to the Aussie travel trade and share fresh updates from its portfolio of boutique hotels, full-service resorts and condominium retreats located across the Hawaiian Islands of Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Island of Hawaii (Big Island).
