Travel agent causes a stir with cheeky Facebook post

A Tamworth-based Travellers Choice agent has used a clever trick to spread a very important message on social media.

Chris Watson posted a meme to the wall of his travel business’ Facebook page yesterday evening that seemed to get a rise out of some users.

The meme consisted of text on a green background with a Chris Watson Travel logo in the header.

“When the time comes, I 100 per cent support mandatory vacations for everyone,” the text said.

“If anyone refuses, they should be FORCED.”

The agency captioned the meme asking its followers to “read it twice”.

Personally, it took us four times to understand the intended message but perhaps lockdown is getting the better of us.

“Well of course u would. U won’t make any money from the unvaccinated who can’t travel 😏” one commenter said.

“If you can’t make any money out of travel agency, go and pick some fruit. My body, my temple, my decision,” said another, prompting a truth bomb from Watson.

“Don’t worry, I’m currently working three jobs, mainly just so I can keep the agency going to continue to chase refunds for our clients,” he responded to the comment.

The post had received over 900 reactions and 275 comments at the time of publishing this article, with many responding to the negative comments reminding them to re-read the sentence.

“You should run a few fishing expeditions. Your bait is working perfectly 😂😂😂” a cheeky Facebook user quipped.

“That’s weird! I’ll swear it said vaccinations first time I read it? The trickery of the human mind,” said another.

One of the commenters, Elaine Holland, suggested an explanation for why so many believed Watson was advocating for forced vaccinations instead of vacations.

“Got me, but apparently we only need the first and last letters of a word to read it. Jumble the letters up in the middle and we can still read it but obviously, we all have vaccinations in our minds and not vacations 🤣🤣,” she said.
