Marriott makes “all-important” senior appointment

Marriott International has promoted from within, appointing Will Blakelock as its new area director of revenue strategy for Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.

Blakelock (pictured above) began his career with Marriott in 2004 in the reservations office in the UK. He has held a number of roles at the company, including cluster inventory manager and director of revenue analysis and inventory management.

He also worked as Marriott’s cluster director of market strategy in Prague and the Czech Republic, and as director of revenue management for W Amsterdam.

Most recently, Blakelock was the director of revenue management at Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park.

Sean Hunt, area vice president for Australia and the Asia-Pacific at Marriott, said: “I am really proud to place Will Blakelock into this all-important senior role.

“Will has been a high-performing and valued employee of Marriott International over the last 16-plus years, and has worked extensively in our international network and more recently in Australia.

“Our internal training and development programs allow us to develop the skills of our team members as they move through to senior management positions. I congratulate Will on his well-deserved appointment.”
