Australians will benefit from direct through-connections to a range of Brazilian cities under a new codeshare deal between Brazilian carrier TAM Airlines and South African Airways.

The new agreement will reinforce SAA’s growing traffic between Australia, Africa and South America, according to country manager Australasia, Tim Clyde-Smith.

“Out of Australia we have seen excellent patronage and growth on the route among business and recreational travellers, particularly out of Perth. SAA currently has 11 flights a week between Johannesburg and Sao Paulo,” Clyde-Smith said.

SAA will place its code on TAM services from Sao Paolo to Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre, Curitiba, Bras√≠lia, Salvador, Florianopolis, Igua√ßu Falls, Recife and Belo Horizonte.  Tickets go on sale today for travel from September 2.

“This is great news for Australians wanting to explore South America while also sampling the delights of Africa,” Clyde-Smith said.

 

TripAdvisor's business division has appointed Marc Charron as its new president as it expands its services for the hospitality and tourism industries.

As head of TripAdvisor for Business, Charron will report directly to the site's chairman and chief executive Stephen Kaufer.

The site currently has more thn 50,000 Business Listings subscribers.

 

China Southern Airlines continues to expand its presence in Western Australia with its move new offices located in the recently-opened Fraser Suites complex in East Perth.

 

Christchurch International Airport Ltd has appointed Malcolm Johns to the role of chief executive to take the reigns from Jim Boult, who leaves the company at the end of this year. 

Johns joins from InterCity Group and is also deputy chair of Tourism New Zealand.

 

Travel search site Skyscanner will create 250 new jobs as it doubles its team over the next 12 months, with Asia Pacific staff numbers to triple to 100 over that period.

The firm's regional headquarters are in Singapore with an additional Beijing office.

 

Amanda Castle, formerly of Oz Snow Adventures, has been appointed to the newly created role of Queensland Sales Manager for Busabout, HAGGiS and Shamrocker Adventures.
