Star wedding boosts NZ in China

New Zealand is expecting to reap the benefits of the wedding of Chinese actress Yao Chen in Queenstown over the weekend.

News of the celebrity wedding reportedly sparked a "media frenzy" in China, instantly boosting the profile of both Queenstown and New Zealand in the increasingly important tourism market.

Chen first visited Queenstown for a marketing campaign photo shoot in the resort last year, and is said to have often expressed her enthusiasm for the destination through social media. She is the third most followed micro-blogger in the world after Lady Gaga and Justin Beiber with more then 25.9 million followers.

Her marriage to Cao Yu took place at St Peter's Church with the reception held at Matakauri Lodge.
