Kenya cuts national park fees

Entry to Kenya’s national parks is about to get cheaper as fees are lowered, starting in July, from a maximum $US90 ($A128) to $US60.

Kenya’s Tourism Board said Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta made the decision to cut the entrance charges in a move to help stimulate growth in the tourism industry.

A visa fee for children under 16 will be waived starting on February 1.

There are also numerous infrastructure projects planned such as the expansion of Malinda Airport.

Kenya’s tourism industry has suffered since recent attacks by the terror group Al Shabaab.
