West is best, and rain free, making Western Australia the perfect sunny holiday location

If you spent any time on the east coast of Australia in 2022 you’ve probably experienced your fair share of rain for the next few years, so why not book a holiday to Western Australia and make the most of it’s sun and dream like locations?

The remainder of summer and early autumn on the east coast, particularly in NSW and Victoria, are expected to remain colder and wetter than usual, with flood risks continuing across the eastern seaboard and expected above median rainfall scheduled for 2023.

However, Western Australia is expecting dry conditions and two-thirds (67 per cent) of Australians recently surveyed have indicated they will seek Western Australia’s warmer and drier climate if they were looking to take a holiday over the next weeks.

The findings come from results of a survey of an independent panel of 1001 Australian travellers (895 of which live outside of WA) commissioned by travel insurance provider InsureandGo.

“Unpredictable travel restrictions have challenged Australians for nearly three years, first with the pandemic, then airline disruptions and extreme weather conditions,” CCO, InsureandGo, Jonathan Etkind said.

“Western Australia has seen stable summer conditions throughout this period, positioning itself as an ideal destination for travellers who are desperate for a low-risk break.”

When looking at some of the key rainfall figures, in 2022 Sydney recorded 2451.8mm of rain by November. in the same time frame Perth saw only 650.2mm of rain.

Sporting some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, including Rottnest Island with its native Quokkas, Margaret River Wineries, and rich Aboriginal culture, Western Australia is also seen as a desirable holiday destination beyond its escape from La Niña.

InsureandGo found that younger travellers are drawn the most to the appeal of Western Australia and its predictable summer weather, with 64 per cent of under-30s indicating they will seek a holiday there to escape the cold, wet weather, compared to 54 per cent of over-50s.
