REVIEW: Why the Langham Hong Kong should be your launchpad for exploration
Edited by Travel Weekly

Hong Kong has always been a land of juxtapositions, East meets West, while high finance meets myths and superstitions, just as the islands meet the sea. As the city enters the next chapter of its story, the Langham is the perfect launchpad to meet the new Hong Kong.

The driveway sweeps into the Langham forecourt where you are immediately greeted by helpful staff who guide you into the sumptuously gleaming gold lobby where nothing is too much trouble. A stay that includes the Executive Club will guarantee an even more seamless and attentive check-in.

    Location

Tsim Sha Tsui is the southern tip of Kowloon, from where it is easy to explore both Kowloon itself or its only a short atmospheric ferry ride across the water to Hong Kong Island. The hotel is ideally placed to access both Star Ferry terminal at the south and west of Kowloon giving access to all the islands of Hong Kong, Macau and mainland China. Needless to say, shopping is covered. Harbour City precinct is on the doorstep and it’s a short walk to the famed Temple Street, Jade and Cat Street markets.

    The Rooms

Immaculately presented, the rooms are more than comfortable and well stocked with a full range of heavenly Diptyque products. Throughout the hotel everything is sparklingly clean and the rooms were no exception. There’s also a well equipped Health Club, a luxurious pool and the Chuan Body + Soul Spa, to rejuvenate after big days in the city.

    Dining

The legendary T’ang Court restaurant has no less than 3 Michelin stars, and its authentic Cantonese fare is unparalleled in Hong Kong and a must- do if there is time to embark on a gastronomic journey. The other cafes and restaurants offer exceptional food as well and the Artesian bar is a great hangout for visitors and locals alike.

    The Verdict

With one eye on their heritage and one eye on the future, the Langham Hong Kong exemplifies the best of Hong Kong design, service, innovation and luxury, and it’s a great example of the blending of all of Hongs Kong’s themes.

The Langham Hospitality Group now offers the Langham level of luxury in multiple properties across Asia, North America, Europe and Australia, as well as the original classic Langham in London.
