Rail Online adds VIA RAIL Canada

Rail Online is expanding its product, adding live VIA Rail Canada journeys to its website, with all prices in Australian dollars and travel agents free to self-manage all bookings and amendments.

Along with some of North America’s most iconic great rail journeys, VIA Rail operates services along Canada’s major travel corridors, including routes increasingly popular with Australian travellers such as Toronto-Montreal-Quebec.

Over the past year, the rail company has also been pursuing an aggressive modernisation program, with a total of 32 new state-of-the-art trains being progressively added to create one of North America’s most comfortable, efficient and environmentally friendly fleets.

Rail Online chief executive James Dunne said VIA Rail journeys have traditionally been popular with Australian travellers.

“VIA Rail’s corridor services pass through some of North America’s most beautiful scenery, and the company offers generous luggage allowances and regular services, making it ideal for international travellers,” said Dunne.

“At the same time, VIA Rail’s iconic Vancouver–Toronto service, The Canadian, is one of the world’s most celebrated train journeys, taking passengers on a four-day, 4,400-kilometre voyage through the Canadian Rockies and past gentle prairies, spectacular lakes and picturesque towns.”

The introduction of VIA Rail follows hard on the heels of live Amtrak inventory being added to the Rail Online website, providing unprecedented convenience for Australians travelling to North America.
