Some lucky Travel Associates clients and a few travel industry members got to savour the flavours of Hawai’i following a cooking demonstration from celebrity chef Tom Kime at the Sydney Fish Markets yesterday.

Travel Associates’ ‘Made in Hawai’i’ event, in partnership with Hawai’i Tourism, showcased the culture and flavours of Hawai’i for some clients that responded to an eDM sent to its database.

Kime, writer of six cookery books, star of five series of Ready Steady Cook and the lead behind six restaurants in London Malta and Sydney, impressed attendees with expert cooking skills while fielding an array of questions from attendees about his culinary, media and writing work.

He prepared tuna poke bowls and mahi mahi ceviche for attendees, while talking through the process of filleting the mahi mahi and reflecting on his time working with Rick Stein and Jamie Oliver.

Alongside the cooking demonstration, the event featured an interactive hula demonstration (where attendees got to show their moves) and rum tasting. Luckily the rum tasting preceded the dancing, giving attendees a bit of liquid courage to shack their stuff.

Two Travel Associates experts, Tanya Von Konigsmark of Evans & Turner Travel Associates in Mosman and Verity Jones of Travel Associates Blues Point, were also in attendance to talk to guests about all things Hawaii.
