Behind the scenes to transform ‘most liveable’ city to ‘most visitable’.

The most liveable city in the world. It’s an accolade that Melbourne’s residents and industries wear with pride.

However from Destination Melbourne’s perspective, it’s important to balance liveability with ‘visitability’. That is, working behind the scenes with the tourism industry to create a seamless and enjoyable visitor experience that also creates a positive impact on the destination’s economy, environment and community.

The Melbourne LIVE Tourism Forum will delve into these pressing issues and more on 15 June 2017. Now in its second year, the full-day conference boasts a program of globally recognised speakers presenting on sustainability, business resilience and smart leadership.

Destination Melbourne CEO Laura Cavallo says, “This year’s theme is titled ‘Think About It’, and encourages industry leaders to consider the impact of our industry on destination and plan for wise growth”.

As Melbourne’s independent tourism organisation, Destination Melbourne offers a range of industry development initiatives that empower Melbourne’s visitor industry to excel.

This year the headline speakers at Melbourne LIVE are Former Lonely Planet Chief Gus Balbontin, 2016 Keynote speaker of the year – Dr Jason Fox, Planet Ark co-founder and Sky News Smart Money presenter Jon Dee and international keynote speaker Signe Jungersted from Wonderful Copenhagen.  Signe will present key insights from their bold new tourism strategy which is titled ‘The End of Tourism As we Know it’.
