Mercure picks ‘Six Friends Theory’ winner

We’ve all heard of the six degrees of separation theory.

Well, flashback to Mercure’s social media campaign known as ‘The Six Friends Theory’, that set out to prove that we’re all just six people away from everyone else on the planet, and now we have our results.

The international casting call ran from January 20 and February 10, with hundreds of entrants competing to win the round-the-world adventure.

The Six Friends Theory was thought up by agency W, and selected selecting a candidate, somewhere around the world, and taking him or her to meet an Aboriginal from the Bundjalung tribe in Australia, in order to prove that they are only 6 degrees of separation away from each other.

The application procedure was simple. Candidates simply had to post a video up to 1 minute long on Facebook, capturing their personality, what they are passionate about, what drives them, their plans, their talents and so forth. Motivated by the incredible adventure offered by Mercure, nearly 400 candidates from all over the world applied, supported by close to 50,000 votes.

And now Mercure has their winner, 21-year-old Italian girl Ludovica Loda, who has now scored a coveted round-the-world trip, following an itinerary connecting the home locations of the five friends who link her to the Aboriginal person at the other end.

After choosing Ludovica as the winner, Mercure is now hunting down connections between the two in order to set up the itinerary.

Stay tuned for the incredible journey this young lady will embark on, and in the meantime, have a squiz at Ludovica’s winning video below.
