Journey Beyond adds new off-train experiences for Indian Pacific

The Indian Pacific’s transcontinental journey just got upgraded with several exciting new Off Train Experiences on offer for guests travelling on this epic odyssey between Sydney and Perth.

The experiences have been through test and trial and have received overwhelmingly positive feedback, so they are now being added to the suite of all-inclusive experiences that are part of the journey.

“The Indian Pacific journey is unlike any other, crossing three state borders and three time zones and traversing some of the country’s most beautiful landscapes, vibrant cities, and remote regions,” said Peter Egglestone, chief revenue officer for Journey Beyond.

“Our team has worked tirelessly to craft adventures for our guests that enhance this transcontinental crossing – experiences that immerse guests deeper into local culture and regional fare.”

The new Off Train Experiences have been carefully curated to provide immersive connections and access to key attractions along the route, based on the direction of travel.

For guests travelling Westbound from Sydney to Perth, new Off Train Experiences include:

  • Bells Milk Bar takes guests to the historic Bells Milk Bar for an unforgettable experience. Once inside, the clock winds back to the 1950s, with vanilla malts and lime green sodas on offer, as well as a selection of organic single-origin coffee and herbal teas. A fantastic performance from Cindy and Johnny takes guests back to the birth of rock and roll, after which there’s time to browse the Milk Bar Museum highlights the fascinating world of Australian milk bars and cafes, providing insight into a part of our social history that has all but disappeared.
  • Central Markets After Dark (launching 22 September) offers a glimpse into Adelaide Central Market, where more than 80 vendors sell home-grown and homemade produce. Guests will graze their way through the colourful, stall-lined passageways, sampling the best fresh produce, meeting the stall owners and taking in 150-odd years of marketplace history.

When travelling Eastbound from Perth to Sydney, there is a new experience in Adelaide, and an amended experience in the Blue Mountains:

  • Adelaide Hills Scenic Drive takes guests via luxury coach through Crafers, a small township on the south-eastern edge of greater Adelaide, with entertaining commentary on the history and lifestyle of the Hills. Then it’s off to Mt. Lofty (Adelaide’s highest peak), with a scenic stop at the Summit Café, 710 metres above sea level, for a champagne (or tea and coffee) moment.
  • Blue Mountains Discovery will now disembark at Lithgow, boarding a luxury coach transfer before stopping for a scrumptious breakfast with spectacular mountain views. Then it’s on to Scenic World for four phenomenal mountain experiences. The final stop is the Echo Point Lookout for a light lunch paired with award-winning wine and beer, complementing more incredible views.

This new suite of Off Train Experiences complements the current experiences in Broken Hill, Adelaide, the Blue Mountains, Kalgoorlie, Cook and Rawlinna, creating more opportunities for guests to immerse themselves in the rich history, breathtaking beauty and exciting cultural scenes that make up an important part of this exceptional rail journey.
