Is Bonza’s latest plane named after a Finding Nemo character?
Edited by Travel Weekly

Bonza has today revealed the name of its sixth aircraft will be ‘Bruce’, arguably one of the country’s most loved Aussie monikers.

Bonza CEO Tim Jordan said there couldn’t be a more suitable name for the airline’s latest aircraft.

“I feel every Aussie knows a Bruce and we’re proud to have our very own Bruce join Bonza’s fleet,” Jordan said.

“Like his companions, our purple army of fans on social media helped name this aircraft with Bruce being one of the most requested names we’ve had.

“The name is apt because we’re also encouraging Aussies to get off the Bruce Highway and onto Bonza’s Bruce with some great deals to be had within Bonza’s network of 21 destinations.”

The new name comes as the low-cost carrier recently unveiled its expansion plans with a fourth base expected to be confirmed later this year and up to ten aircraft rounding out the fleet before the year is out.

Bruce will become part of Bonza’s growing fleet alongside ‘Matilda’, which was named last year in celebration of the Matildas’ World Cup success, as both aircraft continue connecting Aussies on unserved and underserved Bonza routes across Australia.

“We are thrilled to welcome Bruce and Matilda to our fleet and they join Shazza, Bazza, Sheila and Malc. We will have more to say about our future fleet expansion when the time is right,” said Jordan.

Travellers are encouraged to download the Fly Bonza app which is the only place to book direct.
