An Indian fugitive has reportedly been arrested after arriving in Bali on a flight from Sydney.

Ngurah Rai Airport police say they have Mohan Kumar, 56, in custody after being alerted to an Interpol red notice for his arrest.

Denpasar District Police detective Reinhard Nainggolan told reporters they had information from the Australian Federal Police to detain the man from the Garuda flight that landed at 1.50pm local time on Sunday.

Several Indonesian news websites were reporting the man was an infamous Indian serial killer known as Cyanide Mohan, who was convicted of killing 20 women and sentenced to death in 2013.

Police said they were coordinating with the Indian Consulate General and Indonesian National Police and expect to give more details on Monday.
