Fiji Airways has announce major sports sponsorships for 2024 in key markets, including welcoming onboard new Australian partners Melbourne Storm.

The new sponsorship with the Melbourne Storm marks the first NRL partnership for Fiji’s National Airline. Australia is the airline’s largest market, with Melbourne Storm at the heart of its second largest destination.

Commenting on the announcement, Fiji Airways managing director and CEO Andre Viljoen stated: “Melbourne is a key destination for us and we see great potential for growth. Fiji Airways currently has up to two flights a day between Nadi and Melbourne and this partnership will enable us to broaden our presence, capture more market share and increase visitor arrivals for Fiji’s tourism sector.”

Through this partnership, Fiji Airways is also working with the Melbourne Storm to bring the first ever NRL match to Fiji in 2024. Aussies will be able to holiday in tropical paradise and enjoy the very first NRL match in Fiji.

The airline is also the official partner for the NRL Vegas Round in February 2024 where four NRL teams will be competing in a double header at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

“We want to gain new audiences, leverage all our partnerships to generate more exposure for the airline and use the teams’ fan bases to build reach and loyalty for Fiji Airways,” Viljoen added.

Fiji Airways is set to introduce new packages and promotions in 2024 aligning with the sponsorships including exclusive airfares, holiday packages and fan experiences.

Fiji Airways recently increased capacity from Melbourne to Fiji with the addition of its new larger wide-body A350 aircraft now servicing the direct route at least once a week. The modern, fuel efficient A350 aircraft features increased space in economy and lie-flat cabins in business class.

Melbourne residents can experience a suite of new enhancements onboard Fiji Airways including revamped in-flight entertainment, with the addition of Disney, HBO and wellness content including guided meditation, breathwork exercises and music.

The airline’s sponsorship announcement also includes home based rugby league team the Kaiviti Silktails which will now be known as the Fiji Airways Kaiviti silktails. The airline has also expanded its sponsorship of the Fijian Drua.

Ahead of the US hosting the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Fiji Airways has also announced its largest ever soccer partnership with the LA Galaxy. For Aussies planning ahead for the key sporting events, travellers can seamlessly connect to North America via Fiji with Fiji Airways.
