CATO has acknowledged the increased vulnerability of the travel sector to identity theft and the critical need for enhanced cybersecurity measures.

CATO’s managing director, Brett Jardine, highlighted the organisation’s commitment to this cause and its importance within modern business operations.

“We are delighted to provide our members with a comprehensive educational opportunity that addresses the unique cybersecurity risks prevalent in the travel industry,” Jardine said.

This educational initiative will commence with an engaging webinar exclusive to CATO members, titled ‘Digital Security for the Travel Industry: Preventing Identity Theft’, scheduled for Tuesday, 5th March at 10:30 am AEDT.

This engaging webinar will provide tourism businesses with essential strategies to fortify their digital defences against identity theft. Led by the expert team at 4Walls Cybersecurity, attendees will gain valuable insights into:

    • Understanding the Risks: Explore the specific threats and vulnerabilities that make the tourism industry a prime target for identity theft.
    • Targeting Methods: Delve into the sophisticated methods employed by cybercriminals to exploit both tourism businesses and their customers.
    • Practical Steps: Learn actionable steps to enhance digital security in online bookings and payments, ensuring a robust defence against potential threats.
    • Tools and Technologies: Discover effective tools and technologies tailored for the tourism industry, empowering businesses to safeguard against cyber threats.

The webinar series will conclude with an interactive Q&A where CATO members can take advantage of the opportunity for a direct Q&A session with our cybersecurity specialists, gaining personalised insights and solutions.

This session is designed for tour operators and wholesalers looking to strengthen their defence mechanisms against digital fraud and identity theft, ultimately ensuring the security of their customers’ sensitive information.

CATO members will be provided with a link to register for the event in the coming days.
