Capella Sydney will officially open its doors in March 2023, giving new life to the heritage-listed Department of Education building in Sydney’s Sandstone Precinct.

The first Capella Hotels and Resorts property to open in Australia, this luxury icon will mix the building’s historic charm with contemporary design across 192 guestrooms and suites spanning eight levels, with three ground-level food and beverage outlets all within walking distance of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge.

The rooms at Capella Sydney average at over 55-square-metres, and showcase walnut tones, natural stones and deluxe textiles alongside standalone tubs, custom Italian Frette linen and Haeckels amenities.

In terms of food and beverage, guests can choose from a dreamy greenhouse landscape at Aperture next to the reimagined Farrer Place foyer, Brasserie 1930 on the Young Street shoulder of the hotel serving modern brasserie classics that hero cured, smoked, fermented, preserved and pickled foods, and McRae Bar overlooking Loftus Street and offering up a modern rendition of a Victorian-era drinking den.

All meeting and event spaces are serviced by the inimitable Capella Sydney team providing exceptional, personalised service. Intimate celebrations can be arranged upon request, including private dining and late-evening drinks.

In-house guests of Capella Sydney will have access to the Living Room – a signature space in all Capella properties.
