Southern Ocean Lodge Named Among World’s Best Hotels
Kangaroo Island’s acclaimed Southern Ocean Lodge has been named the best resort in Australia and the fourth top hotel worldwide in the prestigious Travel + Leisure magazine 2016 World’s Best Awards.
The remote luxury lodge was given a near-perfect score of 97.39, placing it at number four in the magazine’s list of the 100 Best Hotels in the world and giving it the highest ranking of any hotel in Australia.
Baillie Lodges Managing Director James Baillie said it was a great honour to have an Australian property rated among the world’s best.
Lizard Island gets a taste of Food and Wine event
Lizard Island has announced its second Food and Wine Event with celebrated chef Shane Delia, island Executive Chef Mark Jensen and wines by Penfolds and Yarra Valley producer, Levatine Hill Estate.
Since reopening in June 2015, following a $50 million refurbishment, Executive Chef, Mark Jensen has been creating a strong profile for Lizard Island’s food and wine experience and for the September event the award-winning chef, restaurateur and author Shane Delia will join him.
Delia’s Spice Journey is a global success and highlights the chefs his passion, knowledge and skills in creating the perfect balance of spices inspired by the Middle East. Mark Jensen’s passion for the spices of South East Asia clearly influences his daily menus and will be showcased to a new level during the Food and Wine Event.
Parramatta’s ‘vertical village’ awarded international property award
A Sydney-based property developer has been awarded an international property award for its resort-inspired residential building in Parramatta.
Crown Group’s much anticipated 590-apartment residential tower, V by Crown Group won the Five Star Award for Residential High Rise Architecture Australia at the 2016-2017 Asia Pacific Property Awards earlier this month.
Positioned in the heart of Parramatta, the stunning structure better known as Parramatta’s Vertical Village rises up on two V-shaped columns, each standing a striking three storeys tall; ensuring key elements of Parramatta’s historical and cultural past including the remains of an 1840s convict house and underlying convict hut found during excavation are kept and displayed for public view.

Celebrity chefs heat up kitchen at Pan Pacific Perth hotel
Celebrity chefs Alastair McLeod and Miguel Maestre did an exclusive VIP, invite only cook-off event at Pan Pacific Perth last night as a kick-off of the 2016 Perth Good Food and Wine Show. This is the second consecutive year for Pan Pacific Perth to be the official hotel partner of the show.
During the cook-off, Miguel made Paella A La Maestre and Alastair make roasted salmon with caramelised beetroot, goats curd and green sauce.
