Aussie retreat crowned world’s most romantic hotel by Tripadvisor

An Aussie retreat has just taken out the top spot as Tripadvisor’s Most Romantic Hotel in the World.

The travel review platform released its annual Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Awards for Hotels on Wednesday, just in case you and your clients need a little travel inspo to brighten up your Friday.

Fiji’s Tokoriki Island Resort was crowned the number one hotel in the South Pacific, also ranking 25th in the overall global list.

Fiji also took out second place on the South Pacific list, with Castaway Island listed as second favourite. Australia’s Element on Coolum Beach came third, followed by Kingsford Smith Motel in Brisbane and Hamilton Island’s Beach Club, which finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Australia’s travel bubble buddy, New Zealand, featured less prominently, with Delorenzo’s Studio Apartments in Nelson coming sixth, Wellington’s Bolton Hotel coming 14th, Heritage Collection Lake Resort in Pisa Moorings placing 16th, followed by Quest Rotorua Central and Art Deco Masonic Hotel in Napier coming 19th and 20th respectively.

The biggest win for Australia this year went to Narrows Escape Rainforest Retreat, which came first as the Most Romantic Hotel in the World.

The other Australian property that made it to the World’s Most Romantic Hotels list is the Bli Bli House Riverside Retreat, which ranked third.

Just in case you want to fantasise about international borders opening, the Best Hotels in the World list was topped by Hotel Colline de France in Brazil, followed by Switzerland’s Omania and Sani Dunes in Greece.

The awards are the result of combing through millions of reviews from Tripadvisor’s website to find out which hotels were the most raved about and highly rated.
