Travelport has confirmed it has signed a new full content agreement with Virgin Australia that will provide Galileo-connected agents with the carrier's full range of published fares.

Agents welcomed the move, saying it will reduce booking times.

"It used to take us 15 minutes to make a VA booking on the internet. Now through the Galileo platform, booking time is reduced to around three minutes," Cairns Central Travel managing director Peter Morrison said.

Webjet, a partner of Travelport, said it "increased the operational efficiency" of its business.

Travelport Asia vice president of distribution sales and services, Damian Hickey, said: "The new agreement with Virgin Australia is an excellent outcome for Travelport and our global subscribers.

"We are delighted to partner with such a significant carrier in the Australian aviation market. Securing full Virgin Australia content delivers many benefits for travel agents, including access to the most competitive fares available on one centralised platform so they are able to provide better travel options and services to their customers."
