Tourism NZ launches winter campaign
By admin

Tourism New Zealand has partnered with Air New Zealand to create a campaign that will encourage Aussies to venture across the ocean and into the country’s winter wonderland.

The new winter campaign began in April, and will run until June 30, with a heavy emphasis on television advertising and online placements across key news sites.

The ‘more magic in every day’ theme driving the campaign shows travellers exactly what a New Zealand winter experience is all about, both on the slopes and off.

Tourism New Zealand general manager Australia, Tony Saunders, said the campaign takes things one step further, by attracting occasional winter holiday makers with the many attractions on offer besides snow.

“This is the third year we’ve promoted ‘more magic in every day’, which has proven very effective with enticing Australians to travel across the Tasman for a winter holiday,” Saunders said.

In response to the winter demand, Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia have announced they will operate an additional 40,000 seats to and from Queenstown over the peak winter period.

Jetstar and Qantas have also announced extra seasonal flights between Sydney and Queenstown to accommodate for the growth in trans-Tasman travellers.

“Working with Tourism New Zealand broadens the reach of our direct access message to Australians considering to travel to New Zealand this winter,” said Air New Zealand general manager Australia, Leanne Geraghty.

New Zealand South Island ski and snow holidays have been on the increase for Aussies since 2005, with Tourism New Zealand research indicating Australian travellers are more likely to visit New Zealand during winter.
