TTF maps out key battle grounds

TTF maps out key battle grounds
By admin

The chairman of the Tourism and Transport Forum (TTF) has laid out the principal battle grounds for the organisation in 2013 as he attacked the lack of federal government help over the past 12 months.

Bruce Baird accused the government of providing "no particular assistance" this year with Labor more intent on bailing out other industries which employ fewer people than travel.

He singled out the motoring industry for receiving government cash "while we get the PMC [Passenger Movement Charge]".

The TTF will continue to actively lobby against the PMC in 2013, Baird said.

"We will be pushing hard in what is a federal election year, not least for money for the tourism industry, but also on issues such as the PMC, common border issues and access to some of our airports," he said. "We will ask question about where the government want to take this industry. Are they going to take it for granted?"
