Tourism Australia will step up its presence in Indonesia after identifying it as a key growth market.

The tourism body is searching for a Jakarta-based agency to add weight to its consumer marketing, public relations and trade distribution activity.
Indonesia became Australia’s second fastest growing market in 2011 with arrivals in the year to December hitting 140,400, a rise of more than 13% on the previous year. It is Australia’s 13th largest source market.
“We are very excited about the growth in Indonesia and will be increasing our support and marketing activities in 2012 to meet the demands of this fast growing, emerging market,” said Maggie White, Tourism Australia regional general manager South and South East Asia.
Meanwhile, the tourism body announced the appointment of Benjamin Yates, formerly chief executive of the Caravan, RV and Accommodation Industry of Australia, as its new investment attraction manager in a move aimed at strengthening its capabilities in "supply-side tourism".
"A stronger focus on investment will ensure that the quality of Australia's tourism industry meets the expectations of visitors, and will help us achieve the goals set for us in the Tourism 2020 strategy," Tourism Australia managing director Andrew McEvoy said.
