The biggest ever stream of international cruise visitors will visit Sydney in what has been hailed as "Super February" in the industry.

A record 90,000 passengers from 39 cruise ships will arrive in the harbour city this month.

The visitors will be officially welcomed by a team of City of Sydney ambassadors armed with maps and tourist information at the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay and two White Bay wharves.

"The program has proven so popular, we are now taking bookings from cruise operators who want personalised welcomes aboard their ships before passengers disembark," Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore said in a statement.

"We have a terrific team of volunteers who take pride representing our city and who are armed with great local knowledge."
