Profit declines at Travellers Choice

Profit declines at Travellers Choice
By admin

Travellers Choice has seen a sharp fall in profits but said it still represents a “solid performance” in a difficult trading environment.

Pre-tax operating profits fell from $1.18 million to $727,553, with 100% of the profit being returned to members.

All agents will receive a 5% unfranked dividend with the remainder distributed through trading rebates based on sales support for its preferred suppliers.

Traveller Choice chief executive Christian Hunter said the strong dollar helped drive demand but discounting and intense competition “inevitably hampered the company’s ability to achieve sales in line with last year’s record result”.

“Against this backdrop it is encouraging to know that a network-wide focus on supporting an expended range of strategic suppliers have nevertheless helped Travellers Choice deliver an operating profit for the 35th consecutive year,” he said.
