Mercure Portsea Golf Club and Resort officially opened yesterday with TV personality Eddie McGuire and education minister Martin Dixon.

The multi-million dollar development has brand new accomodation, conference and function space as well as a golf club house.

Accor’s Chief Operating Officer Pacific, Simon McGrath told the 60 guests that he was confident in Victoria's tourism industry.

Enhancements to the Portsea Golf Club include high-tech member facilities and strategic bunkering on the actual course.

The event also had a caricaturist, Gavin Bell, who took speedy sketches of guests.
