Overseas plans on the rise

Overseas plans on the rise
By admin

The appetite for outbound travel looks set to continue with new research showing a rise in the number of Australians planning an overseas holiday.

One in 10 people intend to travel abroad for their next holiday, up from 8% at the same time last year, according to Roy Morgan research in the September quarter.

Overall travel intention also increased from 68% to 70%, but those planning a domestic break for their next holiday slipped slightly, from 56% to 55%.

Jane Ianniello, Roy Morgan international director of tourism, travel and leisure, said improving consumer confidence, stronger stock market and falling interest rates all contributed to the rebound.

Melbourne was the “stand out performer” for domestic travel intention.
