Ahead of Valentines Day, New Zealand couldn’t be happier with the latest episode of The Bachelor, America highlighting some romantic destinations in the region.

The New Zealand episode of the show saw, The Bachelor and eight adoring ladies experience a week of adventure, romance and luxury. It was broadcast to a to a captive audience of 7.8 millions US viewers.

The romance and adventures were filmed in the Central North Island, and Tourism New Zealand is expecting increased tourism to the region following the episode.

“Furthermore, The Bachelor perfectly supports our activity to target visitors looking for a romantic holiday – profiling New Zealand as the perfect location for a romantic getaway, wedding or honeymoon”, TNZ general manager Americas and Europe, Gregg Anderson said.

The show was supported by a number of regional tourism organisations: Destination Lake Taupo, Destination Rotorua and Hamilton and Waikato Tourism. The contestants undertook jet boating, the OGO, Te Puia in Rotorua and visited Hobbiton.

Following the release of the second movie in the Hobbit Trilogy, Gregg Anderson, expects that The Bachelor episode will continue exposure of New Zealand to potential travellers.

“Being able to showcase the premium experiences and product that is available throughout the region is fantastic as we increase our activity to engage with the lucrative premium travel sector”, Gregg Anderson said.
