Express Ticketing has responded to a brand review and industry feedback by amending the name of its 1ndependence Travel Group to Independent Travel Group with immediate effect.

The group's taglines, "Talk to us" and "Independent Travel Experts", remain unchanged.

"We believe that this correctly represents the positioning of the group and clearly identifies what our Independent Travel Group stands for, that is a truly independent alternative for all travel agents Australia-wide," chief executive Tom Manwaring said.

ITG is powered by Express Ticketing, offering member agents access to its range of fares and products.

Meanwhile, the group now counts more than 150 members and is seeking to grow its membership base to more than 300 within the next two years, with Manwaring claiming that reports of members improving their bottom lines and "exercising more control over their own businesses" are seeping out into the agency community.

"As a family-owned fully-integrated business ourselves, we have a close affinity with the independent agency business community, members of which are usually family owned," he said.
