More Aussies heading to Singapore

By admin

The number of Australians who travelled to Singapore last year climbed 9% to 956,000 – and we are staying longer.

Figures from the Singapore Tourism Board showed the average length of stay increased from 2.89 days to 2.97 days.
Combined with New Zealand, arrivals from Oceania passed the one million mark for the first time with 1.09 million travellers compared to 989,000 in 2010.
Confident tourism officials said 2012 could be even better with increased air access. SilkAir will begin a four times weekly service between Singapore and Darwin from March 26 while Scoot, the low cost start-up launched by Singapore Airlines will operate daily flights to Sydney from mid 2012.
The opening of Singapore’s cruise terminal at Marina Bay is also expected to result in an increase in cruise passenger numbers.
