Midweek Interview with Maree Wright, Travelscene's Rising Star of the Year

Midweek Interview with Maree Wright, Travelscene's Rising Star of the Year
By admin

The challenge for the industry is… Competing with the internet and people underestimating the value of our service, experience and expertise.

The things I like about my job are… Making clients' dream holidays into a reality and, of course, the travel perks.

And the frustrations… Not having enough hours in the day and people with unrealistic holiday budgets.

If I didn’t work in travel I would be a… Zookeeper.

Qantas or Virgin… Qantas.

My proudest moment was… Winning Rising Star of the Year at the recent Travelscene American Express National Consultants Conference.

The naughtiest thing I ever did was… If I told you I would have to kill you.

I try to relax by… Sleeping. I have a very active two year old son. Also, a nice relaxing massage on the beach somewhere exotic would do the trick.

The last time I feared for my life… Doing the Kings Canyon rim walk, I am not a big fan of heights.

If I can, I always try to avoid… House work.

I really wish I had… An endless flight ticket to anywhere in the world, travelling first class.

The best advice I’ve ever received was… You can always keep learning.

I don’t understand why… People don’t want to travel.

My greatest weakness is… Dark chocolate.

And my greatest strength… My family and my passion for my job.

If I was prime minister I would… Try and put more funding into Telstra Child Flights and Cancer research.

If I won $1 million on the lottery I would… Buy an endless first class ticket to anywhere in the world and a nice big house.

If I could be someone else for one day I would be… Kim Kardashian, because she is filthy rich and I would go crazy spending all her money.

I’ve always wanted to travel to… Italy. I'd love to experience the charm, culture, yummy food and see all the wonderful sights.

My favourite holiday was… My honeymoon to Thailand. We went to Chiang Mai, Phuket and Bangkok. Thailand has a great mix of everything you could ask for in a holiday.
