Midweek Interview with Jonathan Nelson, National Sales Manager, Independent Travel Group
By admin

The challenge for the industry is… Currently the changing face of the Travel Compensation Fund and agent licensing. It's causing a lot of concern and confusion.

The things I like about my job are… Everything – the people, the suppliers, the entire world of travel. It’s the best industry on earth!

And the frustrations… Things beyond our control. Political unrest, volcanos, exchange rates and fire bugs on planes!

If I didn’t work in travel I would be a… Musician.

Qantas or Virgin? Both.

My proudest moment was… Opening Express Ticketing Perth with 0 clients, 0 staff and 0 brand recognition… It’s now a powerhouse!

The naughtiest thing I ever did was… I could tell you but I’d have to kill you.

I try to relax by… Going cruising.

The last time I feared for my life… Every time someone else is driving.

If I can, I always try to avoid… Cucumber – yuck!

I really wish I had… Three day weekends.

The best advice I’ve ever received was… Save for a rainy day (Scottish heritage!)

I don’t understand why… People lie

My greatest weakness is… A really nice guitar, I can’t resist them!

And my greatest strength… My word is my bond.

If I was prime minister I would… Ooh this answer would be a little non PC!

If I won $1 million on the lottery I would… Hire a nanny so my wife and I could sleep in!

If I could be someone else for one day I would be… Eddie Vedder.

I’ve always wanted to travel to… Antarctica.

My favourite holiday was… Canada / Alaska. Spectacular!
