Jetstar launches Perth-Haikou service
By admin

Jetstar has unveiled a new link between Perth and Haikou, the capital of China’s Hainan Province.
Although, the carrier has operated a low fare service between Haikou and its Asian hub Singapore since 2009, it is now working with the Hainan Provincial Government to market the one-stop through service to Perth.
The four times weekly service will link the Western Australian capital to more than eight million people that reside in the province.
Acting chief executive Jetstar Asia, Paul Daff, said the new link would help Australian tourism capitalise on the huge opportunities offered by the Chinese market.
“China’s appetite for international air travel keeps rising as millions more Chinese consumers move into the middle class and have more disposable income,” he said.
Tourism Western Australia chief executive Stephanie Buckland was optimistic the new service would boost arrivals to WA from its fastest growing source market.
“With strong growth in tourist arrivals and expenditure, China is becoming an important tourism market for WA and gaining greater air access will enable even more visitors to experience our extraordinary state,” she said.
Meanwhile, Hainan Province deputy scretary general Luo Shixiang was hopeful Australians would utilise the new route to explore Hainan, which he said was often referred to as the “Hawaii of the East”.
“Hainan is heavily investing in making the island a true international tourism destination by creating world class facilities that complement its amazing natural surrounds,” Shixiang said.
Introductory economy flights on the route start from $289 per person one way.
