Fergie unveils online visa plan
By admin

The government will roll out online visitor visas to all countries over the next two years, tourism minister Martin Ferguson has revealed.

China will also be included in the e-visa plans, announced at the third annual Tourism Directions Conference in Canberra.

“The government recognises that the tourism experience starts long before arrival at a destination,” Ferguson told 300 delegates. “This will further enhance and streamline visitor experiences in Australia.”

He also outlined details of a new plan designed to improve the appeal of tourism investment in Australia. The Tourism Major Project Facilitation Service (TMPF) aims to minimise delays to project approvals through a “simpler, more streamlined regulatory process”.

“Tourism is now a national investment priority,” he said. “The TMPF is one example of how the Australian Government is working with states and territories to make Australia a more attractive investment destination.”
