Etihad to kick off daily Brisbane services
By admin

Etihad will kick off its daily schedule of flights to Brisbane tomorrow with its chief executive declaring the expansion will put further pressure on competitors.

The increase from three weekly flights to a daily frequency between Abu Dhabi and Queensland, via Singapore, will provide more flexibility for leisure and business travellers, James Hogan said.

It will add 1048 extra seats per week on the route.

"The additional capacity puts Etihad Airways in a stronger than ever position in the Singapore and Australian markets," Hogan said. "It enables to compete on a more level playing field than in the past."

He continued: "Daily flights, combined with a world-leading guest experience, access to more destinations worldwide than any other Middle Eastern airline, and seamless connections in Abu Dhabi and to Virgin Australia services in Brisbane, deliver our Australian and Singaporean guests a winning proposition."

It also increases the options for business and leisure travellers from the UK, Europe and the Middle East, Hogan added.

The carrier said it will continue to work with the industry in each market to "ensure the route's continuing success".

Etihad operates A330-200s on the route with 22 business class and 240 economy seats.

To mark the launch of the expanded frequency tomorrow, the carrier will operate an aircraft painted in the colours of Manchester City, the English Premier League club which it sponsors.

Flights depart Brisbane daily at 11.55am, arriving in Singapore at 6.10pm and in Abu Dhabi at 11.30pm.
