Choice Hotels Australasia is set to grow its economy franchise brand Econo Lodge, claiming “unprecedented growth” since its launch in 2009.

Chief executive Trent Fraser promised “considerable investment” over the next few years, targeting new properties across Australia.

“Consumers are seeking value for money from a trusted brand and that’s the reason we are focusing on providing the Econo Lodge solution in every destination,” Fraser said.

The brand’s portfolio has expanded to 21 hotels across Australia and New Zealand over the three year period, with a new Melbourne property in Brunswick recently opened. It is expected to expand to Tasmania and Western Australia later this year.

Meanwhile, Choice Hotels reported rising guest bookings and a 7% increase in revenue per available room in 2011 across its 280 hotels in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.
