Celebrity Cruises CEO steps down

Daniel Hanrahan will step down from his role as president and chief executive of Celebrity Cruises at the end of the July as he leaves the firm to take an “exciting new opportunity”.

Hanrahan said the decision to leave had not been easy, but he looked back with pride on his achievements in the role.

“In four years, we took delivery of five new ships, ‘Solsticised’ the Millennium class, repositioned the brand around Modern Luxury, achieved record high guest ratings and won numerous awards as the best sales organisation. Not to mention, we saw our profitability improve dramatically,” he said.

Royal Caribbean chairman and chief executive Richard Fain paid tribute to Hanrahan’s contributions to the company, but was confident about the future of the cruise line claiming its “great bench strength” would continue to propel the brand forwards.
