Accor tipped to take Pullman brand to Fiji

Accor tipped to take Pullman brand to Fiji
By admin

An upscale property under construction in Fiji has been tipped to become a Pullman hotel in a move that would represent the brand’s first venture in the Pacific Islands.

Accor, which operates the brand, is shortly expected to confirm the plans, although an opening date remains unclear.

Launching into Fiji will be regarded as a logical step for Pullman, given the familiarity of the brand in Australia and its long-held intention to build hotels and resorts in “prime tourist locations”.

Accor Pacific chief operating officer, Simon McGrath, said: “As with any contract negotiations we are unable to confirm any new hotel until we have signed on the dotted line.”

But Travel Today understands a deal is close to being finalised.

Accor operates 90 Pullman hotels around the world, including 11 in Australia and one in New Zealand, with plans to take its global portfolio to 150 properties between 2015 and 2020.

There are currently 39 properties in Asia, 28 in Europe, four in South America, four in Africa and three in the Middle East.

Among its Asia network, 16 are in China with another 30 in the pipeline.

Accor Asia Pacific chief executive Michael Issenberg described the Pullman brand at a conference last week as “affordable and accessible luxury”.

“It is going very well here in Australia and is the fastest growing upmarket luxury brand in the country,” he said.
