AFTA invites accreditation feedback

AFTA invites accreditation feedback
By admin

Agency owners and managers will be able to share their views on the Australian Federation of Travel Agents’ new accreditation scheme as a national roadshow makes its way across Australia.

The workshops, to be led by AFTA chief executive Jayson Westbury and accreditation general manager Gary O’Riordan, will brief industry on the draft criteria for the AFTA Travel Accreditation Scheme (ATAS) with additional updates on its implementation and timing.

They represent the first in a series of proposed consultations designed to enable agents to play a role in shaping the voluntary, industry-led scheme.

Speaking at the first event in Sydney yesterday, O’Riordan hailed the new model as a transition from a “licensing regime” to the “positives of an accreditation scheme”.

‘Our focus over the coming months is to ensure there is widespread communication to and engagement with travel agents, owners, managers, suppliers, wholesalers and the wider travel industry so that we end with an accreditation scheme that delivers for the industry, as well as for consumers,” he said.

Meanwhile, Westbury underlined the amount of work undertaken in the creation of the proposed framework.

“We now look forward to hearing and incorporating feedback from right across the industry, as well as from AFTA members,” he said.

The roadshow is scheduled to visit: Adelaide on August 6; Canberra on August 8; Brisbane on August 12; Gold Coast on August 13; Melbourne on August 20; Hobart on August 21; Sydney on August 22; Darwin on August 27 and Perth on August 29.
