AFTA begins building accreditation brand

The Australian Federation of Travel Agents has begun creating the brand for its new accreditation scheme with the appointment of Joanne Tralaggan to the role of marketing and communications manager.

Formerly of Destination Wollongong, Tralaggan will also be responsible for attracting travel intermediaries to join the scheme and educating consumers on why they should purchase travel through an accredited agent.

Her experience gained across a number of positions in a range of travel, tourism and marketing roles will stand her in "good stead" to take on the challenges of establishing the new scheme, according to Tralaggan.

"Strategic planning, brand development, campaign planning and execution, online marketing including the new world of social media and strong relationship management are particular strengths of mine and I am excited to combine all these skills in the development of a new accreditation scheme," she said.

Gary O'Riordan, AFTA general manager accreditation, described the role as "crucial" to the scheme's future.

"Jo will bring a sharp marketing focus to the scheme," he said.
