Tourism Fiji has announced that the World Surf League (WSL) has selected Cloudbreak, located close to the island of Tavarua, as the prestigious venue for the 2025 WSL Finals.

The event is part of the Championship Tour and will determine the men’s and women’s World Champions in a one-day, winner-takes-all competition.

Fiji is renowned for its iconic waves, with Cloudbreak recognised for its powerful and consistent left-hand barrels. Ranging from two to twenty feet in height, the waves break over a shallow reef off the coast to deliver dynamic surfing conditions year-round. Cloudbreak is the perfect location for the top five male and female surfers competing for the World Title.

The return to Cloudbreak marks a continuation of a three-year partnership between the WSL and the Fijian Government, extending through to 2026. This collaboration underscores Fiji’s status as a premier destination for world-class surfing, with the scheduled placement for Fiji in the 2026 Tour to be announced next year.

Cloudbreak first graced the Championship Tour calendar in 1999, with WSL delighted to welcome Cloudbreak back for the 2024 Corona Fiji Pro, presented by Bonsoy, from August 20-29, which will serve as the final event of the regular season and a precursor to the 2025 Finals.

“We are stoked that the World Surf League has chosen Cloudbreak, Fiji, as the venue for the 2025 WSL Finals,” Tourism Fiji CEO Brent Hill said.

“Our waves and warm hospitality await surf enthusiasts from around the world. We look forward to showcasing Fiji as a world-class surfing destination. This event boosts our global visibility as well as uplifts communities and inspires our local surfers. Vinaka vakalevu (thank you very much), WSL, for recognising Fiji as the ultimate destination for this event.”
