But that’s not all. The Dolce Hanoi Golden Lake Hotel is looking to lure post-COVID-19 guests with around one tonne of gold-plating featured throughout the hotel both inside and out.

The 400 room, 25-story property reportedly took 11 years to build and has claimed to be a first of its kind.

Owned by Hoa Binh Group and managed by Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, the hotel also features a 24-karat-gold tiled infinity pool on its rooftop, golden coffee cups, cutlery, showerheads, and bathtubs.

Prices start at $400 per night, which is exxy for Vietnam but not expensive enough to be reserved for the mega-rich.

Nguyen Huu Duong, chairman of Hoa Binh group that owns the hotel, said the property was relatively cheap to make, costing around $400 million, because the gold-plating was achieved locally, according to Live Mint.

“Our group has a factory that can do gold-plated stuff, so the cost for our equipment and furniture here is quite cheap,” Duong said.

Reuters reported that Vietnam has been successful in containing the COVID-19 pandemic, with only around 350 or so cases and no reported deaths.

Duong said that if it weren’t for the pandemic, the hotel would be fully booked with international guests.
