Woman tries to jump off cruise ship to rescue mobile phone

A woman was held back by officials recently, as she tried to throw herself off the cruise ship she was travelling on to rescue her phone she’d dropped in the water.

Video footage revealed by The Mirror show the woman being restrained, screaming and crying, as she demanded to be allowed to jump overboard into Lake Erhai in China.

The woman, per The Mirror, claimed her phone had important documents on it, hence her desperation to retrieve it from the water.

But officials refused to let her throw herself off the edge of the ship for the sake of her phone, as they cruised across the lake in Dali City, south-western China.

Per The Mirror, a spokesperson for the local tourism office said the ship was sailing near the lake’s Nanzhao Amorous Island when the woman dropper her device while taking photos.

After she made a distressed plea to find her phone, officials sent out another vessel to search for it.

Of course, the search did not recover her phone, according to the tourism office’s statement to The Mirror.

The woman was dropped off on the island, while the vessel went searching for her mobile phone. The traveller, who was apparently holidaying in Dali from East China’s Jiangxi Province, then thanked staff members and later left.
