Woman killed onboard Emerald Princess

A man has been charged with the murder of his wife aboard Sydney-based liner, Emerald Princess, a part of Carnival Australia, off the coast of Alaska.

Per News Corpthe ship’s sirens sounded late Tuesday night for security and medical staff, after a witness found a woman lying in a pool of blood, her husband standing nearby.

After docking in the Alaskan capital city of Juneau overnight, with the week-long trip cut short, before the FBI boarded to investigate and interview potential witnesses.

The Princess Cruises’ ship, which was carrying 3400 passengers and 1100 crew members, per News Corp, was deliberately diverted to Juneau after the woman’s body was found.

More information has come to light overnight about the death, with Kenneth Manzanares charged with the murder of wife, Kristy, according to an affidavit filed on Wednesday in Alaska’s federal court.

According to the New York Post, a witness told authorities that when he entered the couple’s cabin, the place was covered in blood, with Kristy lying on the floor surrounded by her own blood, and Kenneth  with “blood on his hands and clothing”, according to court papers.

Per the witness, Kenneth said his reason for attacking his wife was because “she would not stop laughing at me”, with court documents confirming Kristy, who died at the scene at around 9.20pm, suffered “a severe head wound”.

The witness also told the courts Kenneth tried to drag Kristy towards the balcony, before he grabbed her ankles and pulled her back into the cabin to await security.

Per court documents and News Corp, Mr Manzanares told FBI agents that “My life is over”, as they conducted a search for evidence.

Another witness, Brian Eckstrom, told the court, “A man came walking out from the hallway where it happened and he had, like, a white tank top on, and some jeans.

“His jeans were completely covered in blood and he came out saying, ‘It’s not good, it’s not good.’”

Per News Corp, passengers were kept in lockdown onboard the cruise ship for more than eight hours as authorities investigated what happened.

They told America’s ABC News the Captain had ordered passengers in decks 8, 9 and 10 on the port side to stay and be interviewed by police.

But it appeared passengers aboard the Emerald Princess were more annoyed at their own inconveniences than the tragic death of Kristy Manzanares, as seen through a number of Twitter accounts:
