What to expect at Travel Counsellors’ conference

Hundreds of attendees will descend upon Melbourne this weekend to take part in the Travel Counsellors annual conference.

Up there with Christmas and Melbourne Cup on the event calendar for some, the conference this year kicks off today and runs until Sunday 4 June, with Travel Counsellors promising the ten year celebration of operations in Australia will be the biggest yet.

More than 120 Travel Counsellors from all over Australia will join key members of the global management team, head office staff, media, sponsors, suppliers, AFTA representatives and key partners at the event to be held within the MCG.

The delegates will also attend reception drinks at a Melbourne hotspot and a gala dinner at the InterContinental Hotel over the course of the weekend.

With the conference theme of exploring what it means to be a Travel Counsellor, a range of inspirational guest speakers from the media, business and sporting worlds will regale attendees with stories of personal triumph, business success and the value of pursuing a career that is meaningful and rewarding.

Apart from listening to guest speakers, the attendees will have a chance to mingle with other Travel Counsellors, head office staff and industry figures. Sharing knowledge, supporting others and working together is at the very foundation of the Travel Counsellors brand, and this is reflected in the conference schedule.

Travelport and Qantas are the headline sponsors of the event with premium sponsors including Air Tickets, Royal Caribbean and American Airlines.

Representatives from the sponsors will attend the event as well as media, including yours truly. Key members of the global management team will also fly in from the UK including Travel Counsellors CEO, Steve Byrne.

Travel Counsellors Managing Director Fred van Eijk is impressed with the level of support and interest the conference has received.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome all delegates to our annual conference. This is a wonderful opportunity for our sponsors, suppliers, staff and industry partners to get together and celebrate the achievements this company has made in Australia over the past ten years,” he said.

“We’re thrilled that so many Travel Counsellors are attending the event. I believe the conference continues to grow each year due to the impressive way it is run.

“We make a significant investment in putting together a conference of such calibre, and the attendance figures show how this investment is paying off.

“We look forward to continuing to grow the brand in Australia, and this conference will set the pace for the year to come.”
