WATCH: Filmmaker cleverly recreates skiing holiday at home

With much of the world stuck at home to halt the spread of COVID-19, a new wave of creativity is emerging as people share the world from within their four walls.

Showing everyone that social distancing doesn’t mean missing out on a holiday, filmmaker and skier Phillip Klein created an amazing stop-motion short that transforms his home into a set of slopes.

The project comes as an entry for GoPro’s #HomePro Challenge, which invites anyone around the world to submit their most creative videos and photos, from any device, for the chance to win a HERO8 Black or MAX camera and five years of GoPro PLUS subscription service.

Check out Klein’s clever entry below:

“What inspired me was to try to put all the negative news on pause and put a smile onto peoples’ faces,” Klein said.

“If I wasn’t home, I’d be skiing – my biggest passion – so I found a way to ski at home.”

Since the launch of the #HomePro Challenge, GoPro has received thousands of submissions and rewarded a variety of content from around the globe, including living room parkour craziness in Switzerland, an extreme back yard slip and slide in Massachusetts, rollerblade moonwalking in Brazil, and indoor fishing in Italy.

An invitation to all the travel-mad creatives stuck at home, the #HomePro Challenge was created to inspire others to find magic in their home-bound experience, according to GoPro founder and CEO Nick Woodman.

“The GoPro community captures the most amazing videos that wow billions of viewers around the world,” he said.

“We launched this challenge to see what creative radness, inventiveness or weirdness people are getting up to at home. And so far, we’ve been stoked with what we have seen.”

To enter the challenge, simply:

  1. Download the free GoPro App
  2. Use the GoPro App to post a photo or video that shows us your #HomePro moment to Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Youtube or Facebook
  3. Show GoPro how you #HomePro #GoPro – use these tags upfront in your description of your post to be considered for the daily prize.

Five winners each day are selected to win their choice of a HERO8 Black or MAX camera and receive five years of GoPro PLUS subscription service, which includes unlimited video and photo cloud storage, exclusive product discounts and, in available markets, damaged GoPro replacement.

The #HomePro Challenge will continue until 30 April 2020.
