Virgin flyers told to “get out, run” after bomb threat

Passengers onboard a Virgin Australia flight from Sydney to Albury were forced to leap from the plane when threats of a bomb onboard were made.

The Australian reported that a bomb hoax was made onboard an 8:05am Virgin flight from Sydney to Albury this morning.

A man onboard the 8:05 am flight allegedly wrote a threatening note on the back of a sick bag, claiming that a bomb was on the aircraft. When found by cabin crew, NSW Police were called and they began closing off the terminal at Albury Airport.

When the plane grounded, passengers were reported to have jumped from the plane, after authorities “ripped open” the doors.

A passenger told The Australian that when the aircraft landed, they were told to “get out, run, run, run”.

The bomb threat was later found to be a hoax, with no confirmation on what the man’s motive was.

“The man didn’t seem to resist arrest,” a passenger told The Australian.

A Virgin Australia spokesperson told Travel Weekly, “Virgin Australia flight VA1174 from Sydney to Albury landed safely this morning.

“Due to a security incident on board police met the aircraft on arrival. One passenger is assisting police with their enquiries.

“The matter is now in the hands of the New South Wales police.

It was reported that the man, wearing a red jacket and red hat was taken into custody shortly after the Virgin aircraft landed.
