Two men have died in Spain after a British tourist fell from a hotel balcony onto another man on the ground below.
Britain’s Sky News reported the first victim, believed to be 50 and staying at the hotel, fell from the seventh floor of the Hotel Don Pepe Gran Meliá in Marbella in the early hours of Saturday morning (local time).
He landed on top of another man, thought to be 43 and a Spanish national, who was sitting on a ground floor terrace.
According to The Local Spain, the Spanish man had been eating dinner outdoors at the hotel restaurant with his friends and wife.
Police were reportedly called at 1.45am (local time) and declared both men dead at the scene.
An investigation has also been launched into how the man came to fall, according to the press.
A Foreign and Commonwealth Office spokeswoman told Sky News it is supporting the family of a British man “following his death in Spain” and is in communication with local police.
The incident comes after Spain, along with many other European Union nations, recently ended its lockdown and reopened its borders to Europeans.
