Travel recruitment company closes Aussie office

Sorry, We're Closed Sign in a small town main street storefront window.

C&M Travel Recruitment no longer has a local presence after it was revealed that the company’s Sydney office has closed its doors.

Melissa Schembri, managing director of C&M Travel Recruitment’s Australian office, announced the sad news on LinkedIn late last year, with the experienced travel recruiter to “take a break and enjoy mummy life”.

“Wow, what a year! It is with a very heavy heart I let my travel industry community know that I have decided to close the C&M Travel Recruitment office in Sydney,” the post read.

“After 20 years in travel recruitment, I have decided to take a break and enjoy mummy life. I am very grateful to have worked in such a passionate industry with amazing talent.

“I have watched careers blossom, had lots of laughs and count myself very lucky to have assisted some of the most inspiring leaders in our industry.”

After being founded in the UK in 1998, C&M Travel Recruitment established a Sydney office 10 years later with Schembri at the helm.

The company recruits permanent, temporary and executive staff for the travel industry, and counted Flight Centre, Helloworld Travel, Club Med, Booking.com, and Sabre among its local clients.

It’s understood that C&M Travel Recruitment’s UK offices in London, Manchester and Surrey are still in operation.
